The Elmira College Office of Alumni Engagement hosts three traditional alumni events throughout the year: Reunion, Octagon Fair, and Athletics Alumni weekend. In addition, the Office partners with several departments on campus, including the Office of Career Services, to host student-centered alumni events.
The Octagon Fair is a community-wide, family-oriented event held on the Elmira College campus each fall. It showcases our very own talented student-run clubs and organizations. Crafters, vendors, authors, and entertainers from off-campus are also invited to participate in the fun-filled day. The EC Alumni Board awards student club prizes for best presentations at the fair as well as hosts fundraisers to support their mission.

We are excited to welcome back class years ending in 5s and 0s; however, all alumni are welcome to attend. While the month has changed, our commitment to upholding the essence and tradition of Reunion remains steadfast. Combining Reunion with Family Weekend allows us to continue to deliver a high-quality experience, ensures our entire campus community has the opportunity to engage fully in the celebrations, and offers the opportunity for a broader and more robust schedule of activities. The move also better aligns with our fiscal and staffing needs, allowing the College to offer a well-staffed and diverse event at a reduced cost to attendees.

EC alumni events are a great way to reconnect, network, mentor, and reminisce on your time spent at EC! Looking for an event in your area? How about hosting one? Gather your EC classmates and host a special event for regional alumni, either in-person or virtually, with support from the Elmira College Office of Alumni Engagement.
We’re here to help! Our office will guide you in all aspects of your event planning including venue selection, funding options, College policies affecting your event, marketing materials, promotions, registrations, and to answer any questions you may have.
Here are some quick tips to get you started:
The Office of Institutional Advancement can pull alumni lists to assess if the event is feasible based on the number of alumni in your area as well as help you choose the type of event based on the demographic of alumni in your area.
Sporting events, museum visits, historic site tours, brunch, dinner - the options are endless! We’ll help you brainstorm the best place to host an event and what dates and times work best.
Funding an event: As an Alumni event host, you are responsible for incurred costs associated with the event. However, these costs often can be offset by charging guests an admission fee, which our office can help collect with an online registration. Costs can also be shared with multiple hosts, or by having guests purchase their own tickets, food, drinks, etc.
